Pricewave is a pricing engine for BigCommerce. You define rules for how prices are calculated from cost; Pricewave computes the prices, syncs them to your store, schedules sales, automates B2B price lists, and keeps everything reconciled with a full audit log.
1. Installing Pricewave
From the BigCommerce App Marketplace, open the Pricewave listing and click Install. Review the requested permissions (Pricewave needs to read your store information and read/modify product prices) and confirm. BigCommerce opens Pricewave inside your control panel.
On first launch you are taken through a short onboarding wizard: confirm the connection, run the initial catalog sync (Pricewave reads your products, variants, costs and current prices - nothing is written to your store during setup), choose a price authority mode, confirm the rule order, and finish.
2. Price authority - who owns your prices
Soft (recommended): if someone edits a price directly in the BigCommerce admin, Pricewave pauses its rules for that product and raises a conflict for you to resolve.
Strict: Pricewave always wins - manual edits are overwritten at the next sync and logged.
Observe: Pricewave calculates and logs prices but never writes to your store - useful for evaluating rules before you trust them.
3. Creating a pricing rule
Go to Pricing Rules → New rule. Choose a cost-based formula (multiplier, fixed markup, target margin, or tiered by cost band) or a rounding rule (.99, .95, .49, or whole pound with optional floors). Set the scope (all products, by category, brand, custom field, or a list of SKUs) and the target field (Default Price or Sale Price). The live preview shows the effect on real products before you commit. Click Activate and prices propagate to BigCommerce within a few minutes.
4. Scheduling a sale
Go to Scheduled → Schedule price change. Pick the discount (percentage off, amount off, an absolute price, or an existing cost rule), the scope, and the start/end times in your store timezone. Pricewave snapshots current prices when the sale activates and restores them automatically when it ends - no manual clean-up.
5. B2B price lists
Go to Price Lists (B2B), link a BigCommerce price list, and add rule entries (percentage off, amount off, cost-plus, or a linked cost rule) scoped as you need. Pricewave populates records per variant per currency. You can also duplicate an existing price list - a capability BigCommerce does not offer natively.
6. Reconciliation and the audit log
Every night Pricewave sweeps your catalog, compares each product against its expected price, and repairs or reports any drift. The Audit Log records every price change with its old and new value, what caused it, and the job that made it.
7. Billing
Pricewave includes a 14-day free trial with no card required. Plans are Starter ($49/mo, up to 5,000 SKUs), Growth ($99/mo, up to 25,000 SKUs), and Scale ($199/mo, up to 250,000 SKUs). Manage your subscription from the Billing page.
8. Uninstalling
Uninstall Pricewave from your BigCommerce control panel at any time. Your access token is destroyed immediately and your stored data is deleted after 30 days. Prices already in your store are left exactly as they are - nothing is reverted on uninstall.
